History

Circulo Fortuny is named after Mariano Fortuny Madrazo, Spanish painter, printmaker, photographer and textile designer, fashion designer and set designer. Considered one of the most creative minds of the early twentieth century.

Círculo Fortuny first actions took place in 2009 for defending the common position of the cultural and creative prestige Spanish brands towards the legal framework reform of distribution at European level.

The proceedings followed by Círculo Fortuny towards the European and Spanish institutions were successfully concluded. In April 10th 2010 a new legal framework that recognizes the specificity of the cultural and creative prestige brand sector based on its value as an economic engine, was approved.

The formal setting-up of the association took place in May 2011 with a solid legal framework for members who wish to join the project and a firm commitment from the founders’ partners:

  • LA Organic
  • Lladró
  • Loewe
  • Marqués de Griñón Family Estates
  • Natura Bissé
  • Numanthia
  • Sotogrande

ECCIA

The European Cultural and Creative Industries Alliance (ECCIA) is the first supranational organization body that promotes the requirements of the European high-end industry to the international institutions.

The ECCIA has been created in October 2010, in order to coordinate the institutional actions and lobbying activities toward the European and the International institutions.

The ECCIA agrees that the luxury sector is one of the key drivers for sustainable growth and plays a particular role in the economy, competitiveness, creativity, innovation and employment.

Based on art, culture and creativity, the work of these companies is underpinned by continuous innovation, a relentless focus on quality, highly skilled employment and strong exports abroad. Their members strive for the highest quality in all they do, from products and services all the way to the experience offered to consumers.

The ECCIA is composed by the major European luxury goods and creative industries organizations who between them represent over 400 high-end brands –mostly SMEs- and prestigious cultural institutions:
