Teatro Real

One of the main opera houses in the world.

The Teatro Real reopened on 11 October, 1997 under the management of the Foundation. Since that day, it has developed activities that are clearly aimed at protecting and promoting Spanish artistic heritage, especially organising, creating and putting on performances of opera, music and dance.

Throughout its existence, the Teatro Real has always been committed to contributing to Spain’s culture, and boosting the country’s international cultural presence. Consequently the Teatro Real has managed to position itself as a major focus for artistic activity on an international level, and it is also an undisputed benchmark among Spanish cultural institutions.
