“Our next challenge is to continue on the path toward internationalisation, increasing the number of loyal European and American clients who visit us when they come to Spain. Being a part of Círculo Fortuny will help us in that endeavour.”
Mr. Manuel Calvo de Mora, company founder
Clothier Manuel Calvo de Mora is the link between two generations of tailors. He began his career in 1965, beside his father, who taught him the core values of the brand: “sacrifice for a job well done and professional expertise,” two maxims that, in combination with his training at the renowned Tailors’ Association of Spain, known as La Confianza, enabled him to evolve and progress in the field.
In 1991, he set out on his own, attracting more and more clients through word of mouth, a truly difficult feat. In 2000, his son Alberto decided to continue the family tradition and—a year later—his other son joined the project, both having trained at the same association as their father.
Extensive experience in the craft has defined their professionalism from the outset. Quality, diligence, and efficacy are three ever-present principles at Sastrería Manuel Calvo de Mora, putting the company in the unique position of being able to meet any challenge. The brand’s style is the result of controlling the artisanal process from start to finish. The company’s mission is to improve the image of those who visit us by emphasising style without neglecting the quality of the fabric or the comfort of the garment. In short, a job well done to achieve the excellence that our profession as tailors requires and that our clients demand, concludes the founder.
Círculo Fortuny, the only association internationally recognised as representative of Spanish luxury firms, has since its inception focused the majority of its efforts on increasing the visibility of traditional craftsmanship. Its members include renowned artisans and creators like Felipe Conde Luthier, Fernando Caruncho, Grulla Armas, Lorenzo Caprile, Navascués and Sara Navarro. With the addition of Sastrería Manuel Calvo de Mora, the Association promotes the recognition of quality Spanish tailors as members of Europe’s prestigious cultural industries, thus enhancing the image of the Spain brand.
