The cultural institution joins Círculo Fortuny “The Reina Sofia Music School is delighted to be a part of Círculo Fortuny as an honorary member, as both institutions share the values of excellence and perseverance.” Paloma O’Shea, President of the Reina Sofia Advanced Music School.
Coinciding with the celebration of its 25th anniversary, the Reina Sofia Music School—pioneers in establishing an internationally renowned centre of musical education in Spain—announces its membership in Círculo Fortuny.
During the Opening Ceremony concert for the 2016/2017 academic year, the school’s president, Paloma O’Shea, addressed this new partnership, “With this profitable collaboration we take another step toward one of our main goals: projecting Spanish potential abroad.”
The school was founded in 1991 in Madrid to foster the development of young talented musicians and to promote culture and music within society.
It is the primary program of the Fundación Albéniz, created in 1987 by Paloma O’Shea as a non-profit institution financed largely (90%) by private sponsorship.
Already, 700 alumni form part of the main Spanish orchestras and those of other countries, or are members of successful chamber groups or tour as soloists.
The school contributes to the musical life of our country in quantity, but especially in quality, with more than 300 concerts produced each year.
In addition to the Reina Sofia Music School, the Prado Museum, the Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum, the Gran Teatre del Liceu, the Teatro Real, the Fundación Casa Ducal de Medinaceli, the Reina Sofia Museum and the Sorolla Museum complete the list of cultural institutions that are honorary members of the association, which is chaired by Mr. Carlos Falcó, Marqués de Griñón and is the only.
